Random Running Tips….

My New Year resolution was to write a weekly blog post. I spent about five days on one post (still in progress) and came to a conclusion... I take things too far and overthink… So, here are some tips on something else I overthink and take too far. Running.

- Start easy. In the first few months starting, you should be able to carry on a conversation while running. If you have to walk, walk.

- Don’t overcomplicate running. Get the right pair of running shoes and start logging miles. I didn’t consume much information on running ultras in my first year. I wanted to see what worked for me without influence.

- Diet. Listen to your body. As you become more active, your body craves better foods and wants to cut the crap out. LISTEN TO IT. This is how I cut out alcohol and gluten. It feels good to feel good.

- Stay positive. There will be weeks or even months when you feel like you’re moving backward. This is normal. Progress isn’t linear. Keep at it.

- Don’t give back fitness. When I was a teenager I didn’t work out for a month. On my first workout back, I told myself I’d never take that much time off again. Over the years, I closed that gap of missing workouts to now exercising 6-7 days a week is just routine. It takes time, and we all fall off the wagon. Just get back on quicker every time.

- Enjoy it. Early morning on long runs with music bumping always brings me to smile. I get to run. What a privilege.

I did it. A blog post in 2023... I'm celebrating this win...

Much love,

Adam
