Spring Run Outline
This spring, I'm trying something a little different. Currently, I'm planning on running 100k (62 miles), and then the next weekend, hit up a Last Man Standing competition, which is 4.167 miles every hour, on the hour until there's only one standing.
When I write a program for myself or anyone, it’s all about progression. That’s why I start with 60sec on 60sec off intervals. Then move into mile intervals before I move into Vo2 Max work/high intensity. This allows my body to build tissue tolerance and decrease the chance of injury instead of just jumping into high intensity work.
Ideally I’d like to have more weeks on Vo2 max (8 weeks), but I’ll have plenty of time to play with that this summer. My main goals in this plan is to #1 have fun. #2 get better AND not get hurt. So, next training plan I’ll add more intensity work..if all things go to plan.
I've never done a Last Man Standing competition, and I'm brainstorming whether to do a specific training block for it or just send it.
Either way, I'm looking forward to pushing myself like never before.
